We woke up in the bathroom, nice and warm. I walked down the street and got a couple of pumpkin spice cappuccinos at the gas station down the street. I always look forward to the fall when pumpkin spice comes back around!
I gave April her coffee and headed to the kitchen to start cooking our twelve eggs and pound of sausage. We were pretty excited to have breakfast burritos to start our big day. Of course, we ate it all! We were soooooo full, but feeling like we would have energy for the day.

Then it was off to the post office to check our mail. I told the attendant who I was and that we would might have general delivery mail. The lady behind the counter said oh yes, I think we have one letter for you. Woo-hoo!

The letter was from my mom. Among other things, it said she wanted to give the general delivery thing a test run and see if we got it. We were kind of wondering if it would work to. It does! Yay!
Philmore, my bike, even got in the Halloween spirit. Meet Jacq-o, the friendly pumpkin:

It was a beautiful day and we were feeling good from our huge breakfast. And, there was a bit of a tailwind! With the fall colors around and a nice cool temperature, could it get any better?

Yes, it could. Despite our hard day yesterday and expecting the worst today, the hills weren't too bad. They were still there to be sure, but nothing like yesterday. Ahhh....
Along the way we ran into another cyclist heading west. His name was Matt and he was on his last day. He was planning to go 100+ miles today in order to finish. In fact, he routinely did over 100 miles a day. We were amazed, but he said he was a racer and he usually rode the area on a single speed to train! Woah!!

The day continued to get better. The weather stayed great, and then we found a Subway for lunch. And they served breakfast all day. And they had cinnamon rolls! Score!
Two footlong breakfast subs and a cinnamon roll later, we were once again feeling full. As we were cleaning up, the lady behind the counter was refilling the cookies and she asked if we wanted a couple of the cookies that were deformed. So to top it all off, we got two free cookies!

We entered Texas county and were hoping to make it to Houston today, but because we only made it to Fair Grove yesterday and because it was getting dark, we decided to stop in a little town called Bendavis. No, that's not a typo, it's really one word.

Bendavis is barely a town. There was a store that closed at 5:00 and we arrived at 5:30. That meant we had to pick one of the six or so houses to ask if we could use the restroom and fill our water bottles. According to the map, we could camp behind the store.

We ended up filling our water bottles at one house and going to the bathroom at another. Then it was back to the store to set up the tent. Except there wasn't a flat, even spot for our tent...and we have a small tent! So we decided to go back to the houses and ask if we could pitch our tent in their yard.
But in the time between our last visit and now, it seemed the whole town had left. We even tried two new houses. Nobody was home anywhere! We had thought we were going to have a kind of short day and be able to work on the blog for a while, but our time was rapidly disappearing. While we waited for someone to return, I called home. April decided she wanted to pout for a while, so she did.
While we wait for the town to return, I'd like to take a moment to thank Zach and Carleen Lesser for their support of our trip. Thanks guys! Hope you're enjoying your first few months of marriage!!
Eventually, someone did come back home. And they did say we could camp in their yard. In fact, they said a lot of people camp in their yard. We're not the only ones who thought the ground behind the store was un-tentable!
We had a quick dinner and April still got to work on the blog a little bit, but it was kind of a bum ending to what had otherwise been a great day. We hadn't even gotten chased by any dogs! Anyway, now it is time for bed. Hope you've had a great day as well! And I hope you've enjoyed reading about yet another one of our days!
